I meant to type about this a little earlier, but I forgot until the trees started blooming this week. First of all, let me describe my setting... Our house, as all houses here, are behind a wall. Our wall is about 15 - 20 yards from the street. This area is just dirt, but on the edge of the road, people have started planting trees. We had trees planted by the road a few years ago, so this year they were actually budding and looking green. (Very exciting). One evening in the middle of March, when we got home, we noticed that more holes had been dug in between the trees. This made us even more excited, because we assumed that the ministry of agriculture was coming to plant more trees. Now one or two of these holes were in our driveway, which concerned us a little bit, but we figured we could just drive around the holes and move the baby trees when they planted them. The next day however, we came home and noticed there were more holes than the day before, not because they had dug more holes for more trees, but because they had dug up the trees that were already there. As I mentioned, they were nice sized little trees that were budding and getting leafy. We asked the neighbor where they went, and he said they are planning to widen the road, so they took out the trees. However, we noticed that the army recruitment center, down the street, suddenly had trees along the road in front of it. Hmmmm... What do you think? (FYI, no one bothered to come fill in all the holes.)
Lest you think that we are now lacking green, let me assure you that inside of our wall, we have a jungle of green. I think the sheep and goats may need to come for a visit this weekend.
