How Cold is Cold?

Here are just a few example of how cold it has been in the past couple of weeks. Last week was definitely the worst with nights reaching -26C and days only getting up to -10C. For the past 2 days we've gotten above freezing during the day and the nights have only been as low as -16 or so. These are actual experiences that we or our friends have had. Here we go... You know you're in Ktown in the winter if

1) You empty all the water from your tank and pipes before the sun goes down so it doesn't freeze.
2) Your coffee is cold one or two minutes after you pour it in your cup. (Honestly!)
3) The water on my dishes freezes on the dishes that are drying instead of evaporating. This happened during the DAY!
4) A friend's dentures were frozen because she put them in a glass of water overnight.
5) My sponge and dish rag were frozen to the sink one night when I came home from school.
6) Your breath freezes on the inside of the windshield while driving.
7) The snow around a fire that is built outside doesn't melt. (This was reported by the parent of a student.)
8) You have icicles on your kitchen ceiling where the steam from the boiling water for tea condenses and then freezes.
9) The water in the iron was frozen! We have a "see-through" iron, so it was obviously frozen!

Now that you might better understand the severity of the cold, please be lifting up people in this part of the world who do not have sufficient clothing, heat, and shelter. We are blessed. Also, the good news is that since we've back from India, we've had at least 3 hours of electricity every night!
