Quake Stories

There has been so much destruction and death with the earthquake, I'd appreciate you continuing to remember the people of Northern A-stan and P-stan. We have a lot of friends from various organizations that are going over there or are over there now.

At the same time, I'd like to share some more humorous stories that occurred at school. First of all our history teacher had just said, "Today we are going to talk about the Quakers' impact on American history. They are a group of people who got their name from their belief that the power of God could shake their lives." Then the earthquake started so they evacuated. They were outside for just a couple of minutes and came back in, so he said, "Getting back to the Quakers . . ." and the aftershock struck. (Hmmmm. . . )

Our fifth grade teacher took her students out the back door of her room forgetting 2 important facts, #1 The workers had JUST poured the concrete sidewalk that connects her back door to our new building and #2 Her students take off their shoes before coming into class, so their shoes were not at the back door, but at the front door. The result was 20 5th graders walked through wet cement either barefoot or in socks during an earthquake. What a sight!

I am just writing about this because we had a little tremor this AM, too. I was finishing up my devo and have been doing a little memory refreshing here of late, so I had just quoted the first 3 verses of Ps 103, Praising Him and blessing Him for His power, forgiveness, and holiness, when my bed started moving. What a vivid reminder of His power!

Anyway, please continue to think of those still suffering. It's really getting cold here now and millions are without a home of any kind. Unfortunately these areas don't have the resources of the States. With Hurricane Katrina, at least the people of the US could and did do so much to help, but that's not even a option with so many of these people. Think of how He can use this to bring people to Himself.
