Out of the Mouth of Babes . . .

Let me introduce you to my husband's little brother, Waheed. He is absolutely the cutest. He is in Kindergarten this year at our school and is doing his best to learn English. His favorite classes are art and music. One of his favorite songs that he's learned at school is "Do You Know the Muffin Man?" They sing it in music class and in the classroom. Valentine's Day fell on a Wednesday this year (the last day of the week for us), so the Kindergarten went all out for a Valentine's Day Party. After school Waheed came to my room because my husband was out running errands. He was doing his best to tell me all about his party in English. Here's the conversation...

Waheed: "Katie-jaan, today is Valentine's Day. We had party with popcorn and juice and cookies with ... What did you call it? At your house we make cookies and . . ."
Me: "You mean icing? You put icing on the cookies?"
Waheed: "Yes, Yes icing on cookies."
Me: "What flavor icing?"
Waheed: "We had white and brown icing on cookies, and we had muffin man..."
Me: "Really . . ."
Waheed: "Yes, we have muffin mans with icing on his heads."
Me: "Oh! Cupcakes."
